ALL roads lead to the breezy town of Claveria, Misamis Oriental with the staging of a cash-rich basketball event for Northern Mindanao's top civic teams.
LGU-Claveria sports coordinator Sofio Don Polinar Pepito told Gold Star Daily that only one spot is left in the projected 10-team competition for athletes born in 1984 in the much-awaited post-summer hoops spectacle which is set to open on Sunday, June 29.
Billed as “75th Araw ng Claveria RS Doki Invitational 40-up Basketball League,” it will be held at Poblacion Claveria’s covered court with the home squad RS Doki of newly-elected Claveria mayor Dr. Reynante Salvaleon leading in the hunt of the P50,000 top purse plus the championship trophy.
The proud RS Doki team, skippered by playing coach Arvin Martinez and Pocholo Agusan, will be challenged by the vaunted Cagayan de Oro-based squads of Wellmons Muñoz, Celbon Deña, and the Lapasan boys, as well as the visitors from Malaybalay City, Bukidnon and Initao, Misamis Oriental, among others.
“Bibo alegre ni nga torneyo kay since sa atong pa liga adtong miaging fiesta, gipadak-an sa atong mayor karon ang mga premyo,” Pepito, said.
The second, third, and fourth placers are bound to receive P30,000, P15,000, and P10,000 each, also with trophies.
