Marawi City — Minister Dr. Saffrulah Dipatuan of the Ministry of Health of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao has issued a memorandum to all health facilities, heightening alert on the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).
In memo no. 00051, issued late last year, Dipatuan states: “We encourage all health facilities and all health workers to strengthen its surveillance, to be vigilant and to make extra precautionary measures. Further, all health workers shall immediately inform all regional Epidimiology and Surveillance unit on all reported cases.”
Dipatuan told reporters last week that on December last year, the World Health Organization was alerted to several cases of the said virus in Wuhan, China.
This week, Dipatuan added, that Chinese authorities a five-year-old man from Wuhan, China was suspected of having a case of such and was admitted in Cebu City. But was later tested negative. DOH also monitored three individuals manifesting the same symptoms and who arrived in the country in Kalibo, Aklan.
Strict screenings on airlines and airports are being carried out, Dipatuan said.
Meanwhile in another development Dipatuan said that in the third round of the compaign against polio, the MOH-Barmm has accomplished 75 percent on its target on the fourth day. He added that on the seventh day it will hit its target of at least 95 percent.
This is for the Barmm provinces and the two cities of Marawi and Lamitan.
