THE relationship between the interim government of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm) and the office of Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Antonio ‘Anton’ F. Lagdameo Jr. remains “strong and collaborative,” a key regional lawmaker confirmed.
Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Member of Parliament Naguib G. Sinarimbo clarified that there is no tension or misunderstanding between the two sides, despite recent speculation ahead of the region's first-ever parliamentary elections set for October 13.
“The partnership remains solid. Both sides are working together for the progress of the region and the welfare of the Bangsamoro people,” Sinarimbo said in a recent interview.
Sinarimbo, the former Barmm Minister of the Interior and Local Government, praised SAP Lagdameo’s close attention and hands-on involvement in regional affairs.
He described the presidential aide as “deeply concerned and focused” on addressing the needs of the Bangsamoro people.
He emphasized that Lagdameo has diligently advanced the development efforts in Barmm as directed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., efforts Sinarimbo claimed were not prioritized by top aides in previous administrations.
“SAP Lagdameo has shown exceptional managerial skills and a proactive approach in finding solutions to the concerns raised by the region,” Sinarimbo said.
“This is why no major problems or setbacks have been recorded so far.”
The lawmaker pointed out that Lagdameo’s leadership prioritizes “not personal interests but the welfare of the majority,” calling him “the kind of leader we need.”
The assurance comes as the Barmm interim government, led by Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua, prepares for its historic parliamentary elections, which will determine the composition of the regional legislature under the Bangsamoro Organic Law.
