GRANDSLAM team Ballpals Green (formerly Orange) tries to grab the solo lead when it tangles with Ballpals Yellow in the club’s only scheduled game set at 5:30 pm today at the Misamis Oriental Integrated Sports Center in Cagayan de Oro City.
Green’s archrival Maroon was able to catch them for the lead at 4-1 win-loss slate after defeating Ballpals Gray, 68-64 during their rain-marred tussle last Saturday.
The Gray hoopsters seriously threatened in the pay-off period, but the towering duo of Jojo Mahistrado and Janjan Arcaya woke up in time to protect Maroon’s single-digit lead.
“Rescheduled match na kining dula sa Green ug Gray karong hapon kay nag-ulan man adtong Sabado igo-igo lang gyod natiwas ang first game,” said Sandy ‘Andit’ Mendoza, commissioner of the 2022 Ballpals inter-color tourney.
Over at the newly-reopened Barangay 24 covered court will take place the much-awaited opening of the first Green CdeO Eagles Club (GCEC) President’s Cup hoop fest in 2022.
GCEC tournament director Roberto ‘Dodong’ Caballero said the event is very timely “kay patsada na kaayo ang korte sa (Barangay) 24 bag-ong repair mora’g pinaka modern sa siyudad karong tuiga.”
At least six teams will duel it out in the Eagles cagefest namely Team Suyao, Team Bellevue, Team NRB, Team AGP, Team Baba, and Team Father.
GCEC president Jaime Joshua Frias II will be on hand to grace the opening tip-off at 6:30 pm with Eagle Patrick Charles Go set to lead the Oath of Sportsmanship.
“Dugay-dugay sab ko nabakante, pero mobawi ko ini nga liga kay gimingaw na sab ang mga fans,” said the club’s resident MVP in retired police officer Ronaldo ‘Waway’ Arocha.
