POLICE authorities flagged and arrested a cargo truck driver transporting illegal lumber at a checkpoint of the Commission on Elections at 8:40 pm, Monday.

Bukidnon Provincial Police Director John Mark Lagare identified the suspect as Tonie Atipon of Don Carlos.

Atipon was driving a 10-wheeled cargo truck with plate number YKR-325 loaded with 80 pieces of assorted-sized round logs with a total value of P40,000.

When asked for documents of the forest products, Atipon failed to show such documents to the authorities.

Prior to the arrest elements assigned at 2nd Bukidnon Provincial Mobile Force Company, led by Police Lt. Col. Randy Anito, was manning a Comelec checkpoint along Barangay Panimaloy, Don Carlos for the purpose of arresting gun ban violators.

Arresting officers turned over the suspect with the confiscated items and the truck to the forest rangers of the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office for proper disposition.
