Mario Emano family declined, says Elipe

MISAMIS ORIENTAL — Former councilor President Elipe has broken his silence regarding his controversial nomination to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, claiming he was not the party's first choice. Elipe stated that the Padayon Pilipino initially offered the seat to the family of the late Mario Emano, who reportedly declined. While party officials like Gerardo Sabal III suggested discussions were informal, Elipe maintains a consensus was reached involving Governor Yevgeny Emano and party president Vicente Emano. Despite ranking sixth in the 2016 elections, Elipe admits the optics are "awkward" given his wife, Councilor Nadya Emano-Elipe, chairs the party. The DILG has returned the nomination papers for certification before they head to Malacañang for President Duterte’s final approval, marking a high-stakes moment for the province's dominant political family.
