DIGOS City ― A truck driver and four of its passengers, including a 10-month-old baby were brought to Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) in Davao City on Sunday afternoon.
P/Major Jonnel Bonguyan, Toril District, Davao City station commander reported that at about 4:40 pm on May 28, a KIA drop side truck bearing Plate Number LMJ-139, loose its brake while traversing the road along Purok-8, Sitio San Jose, Barangay Baracatan, Toril District which resulted to the vehicular accident where it fell to a concrete canal along the road.
Toril duty traffic investigator Patrolman Francis Gozo identified the driver as Virgil Ramohal, 32, a resident of Purok-9, Barangay Bunawan, Davao City.
The passengers who were seated at the front of the vehicle were Charity Abella, 19, a resident of Purok Parrot, Inawayan, Toril District; and the 10-months old Ayesha Millan was rushed to the said hospital due to some injuries.
Meanwhile, those who were at the back of the truck identified as Alexander Millan, 24, a resident of Inawayan, Toril District; and Allen James Concepcion, 20, a resident of Bunawan District, Davao City were ferried to SPMC as they also sustained injuries due to the accident.
Gozo said the KIA truck loaded with chain-sawed coconut timbers from Barangay Sibulan, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur heading towards Toril District proper when its brake malfunctioned and fell into the roadside drainage.
Emergency responders from Davao Central 911 immediately arrived and transported the driver and the passengers to the SPMC.
Nobody was seriously hurt.
