ANOTHER road mishap transpired at the accident-prone Upper Puerto highway in Cagayan de Oro City yesterday night, at 6:15 pm.
This time, however, luck interferes as three of those seriously injured when a 10-wheeler delivery wing van plowed into seven other vehicles downhill, managed to escape death.
The still unidentified victims are now reportedly in stable condition, recuperating at the Capitol University Medical Center (CUMC) in Barangay Lapasan.
"Disgrasyado gyod nga lugar s'werte na lang nga walay kinabuhing nakalas," said DXCC radio reporter Jonathan Bullo who took snapshots of the incident.
The driver of the 10-wheeler truck, Jovane Lerios Madagmus of Talisay, San Isidro, Davao Oriental, told the authorities that he lost control of the steering wheel when the engine brakes apparently malfunctioned.
Those three patients at the CUMC were among the five persons aboard the Ertiga car that was dragged sideward onto the intersection below where vehicles piled up as the traffic was still on stoplights.
Barring any settlement, traffic investigator Jose Ryan Sevillino said the truck driver who came from Alae, Bukidnon to deliver "tahop" may face charges of reckless imprudence in multiple damage to properties and multiple physical injuries.
