A 37-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her husband in Sitio Talisay, Barangay Indahag, on Saturday, December 13, leaving behind three young children.
The victim, identified as Gracelyn Ramayrat, was found dead in a bushy area around 8:30 a.m. having sustained 12 stab wounds.
Later that afternoon, police identified the suspect as the victim's husband, John Lloyd Ramayrat.
Police Major Mario Mantala, commander of the Cogon Police Station, stated that a slipper left at the crime scene led authorities to the suspect, who admitted ownership of the item and confessed to the killing.
"The suspect acknowledged the blood-stained hoodie jacket and slipper pair found at the scene, confessing he killed his wife," Mantala told IfM-RMN-DXCC.
According to Mantala, the couple engaged in a heated argument on Friday night while walking toward Cogon Market. The confrontation escalated, leading to the fatal stabbing involving a knife used for self-defense.
"It reached a point where he shouldn't have—he ended up killing his wife," Mantala said.
Authorities also disclosed that the suspect is allegedly involved in illegal drugs, though this remains unverified as investigations continue.
A parricide case is scheduled to be filed against the suspect on Monday, December 15. Gracelyn Ramayrat's death has left her three children motherless, sparking grief throughout the community.
