By LITO RULONA Correspondent SOME 150 police officers from Luzon have been fielded to this city and Iligan City to beef up security forces working to prevent terrorist attacks. Supt. Lemuel Gonda, Camp Alagar spokesman, said the reinforcements came from Laguna and Pampanga. He said they would be fielded to man checkpoints, malls, public plazas, markets and terminals. Some, according to Gonda, would augment the Martial Law Special Action Group. The additional police officers are from the Police Regional Office 3 and 4a. All are members of the Regional Public Safety Battalions there. “We admit that we are currently undermanned,” said Gonda, explaining that the police in the region has had it hands full because of the Marawi crisis. Gonda said the reinforcements arrived on Monday after police regional director Chief Supt. Timoteo Pacleb, noted that checkpoints here were undermanned. Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) spokesman Chief Insp. Mardi Hortilloza said the augmentation force would lessen the chances of a terrorist attack here.
