By BEN SERRANO Correspondent BUTUAN City--Twelve public and private colleges and universities in Caraga have sought an increase in tuition and other school fees, a Commission on Higher Education (Ched) official has revealed. But Ched chief education program specialist for Caraga Ramil Sanchez said only 10 of 12 applications were endorsed for approval. He said two of the schools failed to meet the deadline for submission of requirements. Sanchez said the schools that received the endorsement were the Caraga State University in Ampayon, Butuan and Cabadbaran City, AMA Computer and Learning Center, Saturnino Urios University, St. Joseph Institute of Technology in Butuan City; Mt. Carmel Colleges in Agusan del Sur, St. Michael College and Hinatuan Southern Colleges in Surigao del Sur, Bucas Grande Foundation Colleges in Socorro, Surigao del Norte, Surigao Education Center and STI in Surigao City. Sanchez said the schools sought increases in their tuition from four percent to five percent, and their applications are waiting for approval by Ched’s central office. He said Agusan del Sur College in Bayugan City, and La Salle John Bosco College in Bislig City failed to comply with the requirements.
