ILIGAN City ― An early morning fire yesterday, killed one, and injured one, even as 65 families have been rendered homeless.
Iligan City Fire Director Reynante Lorono, in his report, identified the fatality as Juanita Dosal, 85 while Sherley Nonoy, 65, has been injured.
The fire occurred at Fortaleza, Barangay Poblacion, and razed 10 houses to the ground.
The first fire alarm occurred at 5:54 am when firetrucks rushed to the scene, compressing fire trucks from Central Fire Station, Tubod Fire Station, Barangay San Miguel, Suarez, Dalipuga, Sta. Felomina heights, Misamis Oriental, Manticao, and also from Kauswagan, Bacolod, and Linamon, all of Lanao Norte.
Initial investigation shows that the fire began in the house of a certain Cordeño Castero. Damages to properties are pegged at P125,000.
The houses, it was learned, were of light materials. The residents rendered homeless are currently staying in Barangay Poblacion I.
