By Edwin Iyo Correspondent Balingoan, Misamis Oriental — A man is still in critical condition after his motorcycle collided with a police patrol car on Tuesday evening along Mantangale Highway here. Police Insp. Danilo L. Popera, Balingoan chief of police, identified the victim driver of Black SkyGo Duke Motorsingle with plate number KA 79522 as Bernan Idpalina of Barangay Mapua, this town. The Toyota Hilux Police Patrol Vehicle with plate number  SKA 115 of Kinoguitan Police station was driven by SPO1 Eduard Aluyon, 38, and a resident of Magsaysay town. Initial investigation shows that the patrol car was heading west and Idpalina suddenly crossed the highway coming from a small dirt road without signalling. The authorities noted that Idpalina was driving under the influence of alcohol. Aluyon tried to evade the collission by applying full brakes which made the vehicle swerve to the left side of the highway, encroaching at least four feet of the opposite lane. However, Idpalina’s motorcycle continued with its course and eventually collided the front right portion of the patrol car. Idpalina and his motorcycle were thrown off the highway as a result of the impact. The victim was brought to the nearest hospital in Talisayan town before he was transported to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center. Kinguitan Mayor Danilo Lagbas has extended financial assistance to Idpalina who was still unconsciuos as of this writing.
