By Ben Serrano, Correspondent  BUTUAN City — Starting Feb. 24, SkyJet Airlines will start its regular direct flights from Manila-Siargao and Siargao-Manila four times weekly (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday), a SkyJet Airlines official announced. Using the 80-seater British Aerospace 146-100 made passenger jet, SkyJet Airlines made its first flight during its grand launch at Siargao Domestic Airport in Barangay Sayac, Del Carmen, Siargao island, Surigao del Norte last Feb. 22 where its first passengers were Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, Transportation Asec. Frederick Alegre, SkyJet COO and president Dino Reyes Chua, Film maker Paul Soriano, Surigao del Norte 1st District Rep. Francisco Jose F. Matugas, II and other dignitaries. SkyJet COO and President Dino Reyes Chua is currently the mayor of Noveleta, Cavite and is also a former provincial board member of Cavite. The grand launching of SkyJet Direct Flight was attended by Surigao del Norte top officials headed by Governor Sol Forcadilla Matugas with Tugade as guest of honor. Matugas thanked SkyJet and Tugade for bringing in first direct flight from Manila-Siargao and vice versa four-times a week. “This will further boost the province tourism developmental goals to be one of the primary tourism’ destination in the country. God gifted Siargao with beauty for the world to see. This latest development will bring further employment, progress and development for our people due to tourism,” Matugas, who is a native, born and raised in Siargao, said.
