The Department of Education (DepEd 10) commended the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental for its contribution in the substantial reduction on the number of out of school youths in the province. Governor Bambi Emano personally received the plaque of appreciation during the DepEd-10’s 2017 Division Stakeholder’s Summit and Community Caravan for Alternative Learning System (ALS) spearheaded by the Misamis Oriental Schools Division held at Balingasag Central School in Balingasag town last Tuesday. “For as long as I am governor of the province, we will fund the Local School Board each year.” Close to 300 classrooms all over the province were built through the LSB, Emano announced at the said occasion. “We will not stop there. We will continue until such time that our people would be self-sufficient in acquiring education,” Emano said. Emano said it prompted him to create the Tagoloan Community College during his stint as Mayor of Tagoloan seeing Misamis Oriental invaded by workers coming from Luzon and Visayas areas receiving compensation triple the salary compared to that of the locals. “We don’t like that. You don’t like that. I created Tagoloan Community College to produce graduates that foreign or local investors would not need to bring their own people here to work because we lack the manpower to provide them,” the governor told local officials. Stevenson Tacobo, President of the Federation of Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) in Misamis Oriental, lauded Governor Emano’s utmost support to the LSB. “Nakita nako ang isa ka gobernador nga grabeng tabang sa Misamis Oriental. Dako kaayo ang iyang natabang ngadto sa mga eskwelahan. Imagine P19 million nga budget nahatag gyud na siya, equally distributed gyud sa elementary and secondary schools,” Tacobo said. (pio misor)
