Iligan City — The Basic Law on the Bangsamoro will be drafted again by another set of persons assigned to do the task.
This was among the statements by Under-secretary Jojo Andot of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (Opapp), who represented Secretary Jesus Dureza, to reporters.
When asked why the BBL had to be drafted again –– as it would be tantamount to going back to square one –– Andot said the previous draft of the BBL was not entirely set aside since it will be the “reference” of the new draft.
To recall the draft BBL under the previous Aquino administration was submitted but did not pass in both houses of Congress, even with several revisions.
Andot gave a “situationer” on the government’s peace processes with the MILF and other rebel groups. This was during the Media Summit for Northwestern Mindanao at the Macapagal-Macaraeg Ancestral Home at Timoga, Buru-un, this City, administrator of which Gloria C. Villaraza who welcomed participants on Nov. 28 and 29 which was among the activities during the Mindanao Week of Peace.
The activity was in cooperation with the Civil Society Organization - Forum for peace, headed by Pastor Jun Tenorio, facilitated by Juanito Enriquez, Jr., Director of said CSO-FP; at the same time president of the Manggagawang Media Ng Mindanao (MMM). It was also in cooperation with the city government of Iligan.
The summit carried the theme: “A Government Closer to the Media is a Government Closer to the People.”
Reporters from this city, Cagayan de Oro, Pagadian, and Ozamis participated in the summit which also had discussions on federalism, drug addiction, and security.
