ALIPOLO Correspondent  Midsayap, Cotabato — The Army’s 39th Infantry Battalion plans to intensify coordination mechanism with local communities and local officials to thwart any attempt to disturb the peace in their jurisdiction. Lt. Col. Harold Argamosa, 39th IB commanding officer, admitted in a radio interview that the presence of the NPA is one of the biggest threat to peace and security in North Cotabato. “So far, we’re still on alert. Alam naman natin na they made pronouncement sa media na they will lodge offensives against the military, police, and local government, ngayon tinitira na nila yung mga local government offices,” Argamosa said. The 39th IB is on alert status following the cancellation of the peace between government and the communists back channel talks. “Continuous ang ating pakikipag-usap sa mga communities, sa mga tao, at the same time coordination sa mga local government units,” he added.
