THE 3rd Oro Higalaay Street Dancing Competition concluded with a spectacular display of talent, artistry, and vibrant energy, leaving audiences and judges alike in awe.
The annual event showcased the rich culture and creativity of participating barangays through a diverse range of performances, each telling unique stories through captivating choreography, stunning costumes, and rhythmic music.
The competition took place on Tuesday, with ten contingents parading through the city streets of Cagayan de Oro, starting at 1 pm.
Their vibrant procession culminated at the Don Gregorio Pelaez Memorial Sports Complex, where they delivered their ultimate showdown performances.
After hours of electrifying performances, the judges announced the winners of this year's competition.
Barangay Lumbia emerged as the Grand Champion, showcasing an impressive performance that earned them the top prize.
Barangay Kauswagan took home the 1st Runner-Up title, while Barangay Carmen rounded out the top three, earning the 2nd Runner-Up position.
Several barangays were recognized for their outstanding achievements in specific categories.
Barangay Kauswagan won Best in Costume, while Barangay Lumbia secured Best in Choreography, Best in Production Design, and Best Storyline. Barangay Gusa claimed the Best in Musicality award.
Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy expressed his gratitude to the participants and residents of the city.
He highlighted the spirit of unity and friendship that defines the Oro Higalaay Festival, thanking everyone who supported the festival celebration.
According to him, the event was a resounding success, celebrating the spirit of community and vibrant culture of Cagayan de Oro.
“Nagpasalamat akong tanang gasa nga gihatag ni Senior San Agustin, ang patron sa Cagayan de Oro. Congratulations to all the winners and participants for their dedication, talent, and for making this year's event a memorable one,” Uy said.
