PHILIPPINE Air Force Reservist Sergeant Stan Myer C. Borromeo was honored with the Military Merit Medal for his heroic actions during a vehicle accident on September 28, 2024.
The award was presented by Lieutenant Colonel Roy Ritua Lopez, Commanding Officer of the 8th Air Reserve Center, on Monday.
Sgt. Borromeo had just completed Search and Rescue Auxiliary Training and was on his way home when he came upon a jeepney accident near Pryce Plaza Hotel. Without hesitation, he administered crucial first aid to the victims, including 16-year-old Angel Mae Amarga from Barangay Dansolihon.
His quick response and calm demeanor were vital in stabilizing the injured until medical professionals arrived. Witnesses praised his composure and effectiveness during the emergency.
Lt. Colonel Lopez stated that the Military Merit Medal recognizes Sgt. Borromeo’s outstanding service exemplifies the core values of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. His bravery and compassion have been applauded by both the community and fellow servicemen.
“Sgt. Borromeo’s heroism brings pride not only to himself but also to the Philippine Air Force and the Armed Forces,” Lopez added.
