PASTOR Apollo Quiboloy has surrendered, citing concern for his followers and the ongoing situation within the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), according to his lawyer, Atty. Israelito Torreon.
In an interview with SMNI today, September 9, Torreon explained that Quiboloy chose not to wait for legal remedies and surrendered to ease the growing tensions within his church.
“He could no longer bear seeing his followers’ rights being trampled upon,” Torreon said, adding that the arrest warrant turned the KOJC into a police garrison, with the cathedral effectively becoming a command post for law enforcement.
One KOJC member reportedly died, and others were injured during the heightened police presence, further prompting Quiboloy’s decision.
Torreon pointed out that Quiboloy surrendered and was not arrested.
He extended his gratitude to the police, particularly Major General Benjamin Silo Jr. of the Philippine National Police’s Eastern Command, for facilitating the process.
Quiboloy surrendered on the last night, September 8 to Major General Edmundo Peralta, commander of the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP).
He is expected to be brought to the ISAFP headquarters at Camp Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
