(UPDATED) REGIONAL political party PaDayon Pilipino has just officially proclaimed Jose Gabriel ‘Pompee’ La Viña as the party’s standard-bearer for Cagayan de Oro City next year.
This has been made valid through a nomination in yesterday’s closed-door party nomination and proclamation of the Padayon Pilipino.
The nomination has been confirmed by a 25-year ally of Padayon Pilipino Alexander Dacer and Capitol’s Spokesperson Maria Jinky Rosit.
Dacer said it was Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Vincente Emano, the vice-chair of Padayon Pilipino who nominated La Viña for the post.
The said nomination according to Dacer was the result of several meetings and talks between Emano, Deputy Speaker Rufus Rodriguez, and La Viña.
Dacer added that there were some members of Padayon Pilipino who were hesitant at first but Emano convinced them that they will support La Viña.
“Gipasabot sila (Dacer referring to barangay chairpersons) ni Gov ug nagkauyon ang tanan isip hugot nga sakop sa Padayon Pilipino,” he said.
Rodriguez who also expressed his interest to run as city mayor is that the latter just want to focus at the Lower House of Congress being a deputy speaker. He will seek his reelection for the 2nd Congressional District of Cagayan De Oro City.
Dacer said that they will file their Certificates of Candidacy this coming Friday, October 8.
La Viña's running mate will be Jocelyn Rodriguez while now Councilor Lordan Suan accepted the nomination to run as congressman for the first district of the city.
As for the city councilors, Dacer said they have yet to complete their slate.
