CAGAYAN de Oro’s Thoughts And Notions band could be a source of inspiration in this season of Lent.
This is as the Thoughts and Notions band officially went public early this year after more than a decade of hiatus.
Considered a Kagayanon Christian pop and rock band, Thoughts And Notions band continued to advocate as a Christian-inspired band through its songs.
The band is set to release its latest song entitled “SAVIOR,” a re-imagining of their old Praise and Worship track from their debut album “In Awe of His Amazing Love” from way back in 2006.
All of its Christian songs are played in a new genre of pop and rock. A devotee can have their reflection played with the band’s songs like “Repentance”, “Kusog nga gi hinumdom”, “Brand New Reason”, “Beloved Savior”, “Like A Child”, “Defender” and a few others.
The band recalled how the band was named. The founders Jasper and Wilbert named the band after their family name “Tan.”
They named their band through the initials of their family name and came up with Thoughts and Notions.
Jasper saw Wilbert’s passion for music. While both were serving in the church, they finally conceptualized the band.
It started with humble beginnings with Thrina Dimaano on vocals, Wilbert on music arrangement, and Jasper on lyrics.
The band was disbanded for 12 years until it revived back in 2021 through online streaming in various Digital Music streaming platforms.
Its hit single “Runaway Angel” was the breakthrough for them to be nominated in the prestigious NU 107’s U-Rock as College Band of the Year in 2009 before the band took a long period of break.
Runaway Angel remained its best-composed song as it reached more than 350,000 streams.
Before Thrina’s return last January with the song “Countdown to Forever”, the band explored for a time collaborating with various artists for their third album.
“We are an inspirational band that is rooted in our Christian Faith, writing Christian Faith-based songs. And we will continue our crusade as long as we live,” said Jasper Tan. “My Love Song,” “Earthbound Angel,” “Brand New Day,” and “Savior” were among the songs from its two albums that have also quite made an impact.
Thoughts and Notions is a band primarily inspired by the popular Australian Christian rock band Newsboys, which is known for its hit “God’s Not Dead.”
