MAYOR Oscar Moreno openly threw his support behind the likely presidential bid of Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II during a multisectoral dialogue at the Patrick Cronin Hall of San Agustin Cathedral here on Wednesday.
Moreno’s pronounce-ments came even as Roxas remained coy about his plans to run for president under the administration Liberal Party.
Moreno told the crowd that carrying out reforms in government is a difficult task, and the country needs someone with experience to continue what President Aquino has started.
“Lisod kaayo ang pag-himog reporma, apan dili sab mahimo nga walay atong buhaton alang sa maayong lakaw sa kahimtang ug panginabuhi sa katawhan,” said Moreno.
He said Roxas was in the position to become Aquino’s successor given his experience as a congressman, senator, trade and industry secretary, and later, interior secretary.
He credited Roxas for bringing the prices of medicines down. Roxas later told reporters he and Aquino met on Tuesday, and they agreed on the need for more people to see the need for the government’s “Tuwid na Daan” to continue.
