THE Province of Misamis Oriental has reached its herd immunity through its massive vaccination rollout.
As of yesterday, the province reached a total of 78.71 percent of its population an equivalent of 536,487 people have already been vaccinated as declared by Provincial Task Force Chief Dr. Jerie Calingasan in a virtual press conference today.
Today, headed by Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano and assisted by the Department of Health-10’s Dr. David Mendoza awarded municipalities that had the highest number of people vaccinated. They based the ranking according to the number of people vaccinated against its population.
From big municipalities that have populations ranging from 40,000 up to 100 thousand, the Municipality of Balingasag got the highest number of inoculation that has already accomplished 74 percent of its 51,441 population.
Coming next is Tagoloan town which got 70 percent vaccinated out of 56,113 population.
Meanwhile, the Municipality of Opol with a population is 47,180 got 67 percent successfully inoculated.
Municipalities that had the highest number of inoculation per population received P25,000 from the Governor’s Office as their reward for the hard work.
For an instance, the Municipal Health Office of Libertad with a population of 9,477 inoculated 98 percent of its constituents. Libertad was awarded P25,000.
According to MHO Libertad Lyndon Beltran, their strategy to reach 98 percent of their vaccination rollout is they provided confidence-building activities to their residents.
“We went to each barangay where we provide confidence that the vaccine is the only solution,” Beltran said.
Calingasan, for his part, said that there are municipalities that continue to give vaccination but the majority will have to resume by December 15.
Emano congratulated the towns that achieved herd immunity while the towns that have yet to reach their quota, reminded each MHO to strategize better.
“Strategize it and discuss it with Doc Jerie (Calingasan) and the DOH,” Emano said.
