LANAO del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong Jr., contracted Covid-19 and has been confined at the Amai Pakpak Medical Center in Marawi City.
In his post in Facebook, Adiong said he tested positive for Covid-19 during an RT-PCR test at the Amai Pakpak Medical Center in Marawi City on Sunday night.
The governor advised those who have had close contact with him in the past few days to subject themselves to a mandatory 14-day quarantine.
Adiong said he contracted the virus from another person who tested positive for Covid-19.
Bangsamoro Parliament member and spokesperson of the Lanao del Sur Inter-Agency Task Force Zia Alonto Adiong said there is no vacuum of leadership in the province since the governor is still supervising the operations from his hospital bed.
“The governor is conducting meetings through Zoom and supervising the work by mobile phone and texts,” Adiong said.
The province is still bearing the brunt of the coronavirus even after it upgraded its status to the stricter Modified Enhancement Community Quarantine.
As of Sept. 12, the provincial IATF reported 65 active cases confined at the Amai Pakpak Medical Center and other isolation facilities.
It has implemented a No Movement Day on Sunday prohibiting all vehicles to ply on the streets of Marawi City and the province.
