A major international hotel chain is set to develop a 30-storey hotel in Uptown Cagayan de Oro, promising a significant boost to the city’s hospitality sector and economic growth.
The announcement was made by City Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy during a flag-raising ceremony at the city hall on Monday, August 4.
He revealed that groundbreaking ceremonies are scheduled for late August or early September, marking the start of construction for the Radisson Blu Hotel & Residences.
City information head Jade Adeser described the project as a landmark development that will reinforce Cagayan de Oro’s rising prominence as a key business hub in Northern Mindanao.
“This initiative is a strategic move to elevate the city’s status as a regional center for commerce and tourism,” he said.
During his recent State of the City address on June 16, Mayor Uy highlighted the RISE Development Agenda, which he considers central to his administration’s vision.
He explained that the hotel’s construction aligns with the broader goals of regional leadership, institutional development, safety, security, human development, and economic progress.
Adeser said that the Rise Agenda reflects Mayor Uy’s heartfelt commitment to the people of Cagayan de Oro.
“It’s not just a roadmap; it’s a genuine effort to foster growth and connectivity across the region,” he said.
Mayor Uy emphasized that the project is part of the city’s broader development strategy.
“This new hotel will boost tourism, support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), attract investments, and create jobs for Kagayanons,” Mayor Uy stated.
The Radisson Blu Hotel & Residences will be the first five-star hotel and branded residential development of its kind in Cagayan de Oro.
With its towering 30 floors, it aims to meet the increasing demand for large-scale events, corporate functions, and conventions, serving as a premier venue for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions.
As the city prepares for the groundbreaking, stakeholders and residents look forward to the opportunities this project will bring.
“It marks a new chapter in Cagayan de Oro’s journey toward becoming a prominent destination in Northern Mindanao,” Adeser said.
