ILIGAN City has distributed relief assistance to residents displaced by heavy rains brought by Tropical Depression Verbena.

Armien Alorro, head of the Iligan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ICDRRMO), confirmed that 23 families — comprising 97 individuals — received aid packages containing rice, food packs, hygiene kits, and sleeping materials.

The evacuees are residents of barangays Abuno, Tubod, and Acmac. They are currently sheltering at their respective barangay halls and at the South 1-A Central Elementary School.

Mayor Frederick W. Siao has directed the local disaster office to closely monitor the situation and prepare additional assistance if necessary.

Meanwhile, classes at all levels in both public and private schools were suspended starting 1 pm yesterday, Nov. 24, and remain suspended today, Nov. 25.

Authorities advised residents to monitor weather updates through DOST-Pagasa, the ICDRRMO, and the Agus-Mandulog River Basin monitoring systems.
