ILIGAN CITY — The Iligan City government will implement a four-day compressed workweek starting next week as part of efforts to maintain productivity while reducing operational costs.
Mayor Frederick W. Siao issued Executive Order No. 29, Series of 2026, adopting the new work arrangement in line with Memorandum Circular No. 114 from the Office of the President.
Under the order, city government offices will operate Monday to Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The extended daily schedule aims to ensure the continued delivery of public services despite the reduced number of workdays.
All city departments have been directed to comply with the order, which also seeks to cut down on fuel consumption and other operational expenses over the next six months.
However, the order exempts essential frontline services from the compressed schedule. These include health services, public safety, and emergency response units, which will continue operating under their regular schedules, including 24/7 or the usual five-day workweek, to ensure uninterrupted service to the public.
The order does not require private companies to adopt the compressed workweek; instead, it encourages them to explore flexible arrangements under the Telecommuting Act of 2018.
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has assured that employees under the compressed workweek will continue to receive their full salaries and benefits.
The order will take effect on Monday, March 16, 2026, and will remain in force until further notice or until revoked.
