ILIGAN City ― A fisherman from Barangay Acmac has been reported missing after failing to return from a fishing trip over the weekend.
Robert Sisando, 51, set out to sea on Saturday afternoon and was expected to return by 5 am Sunday, but never made it home, according to his neighbor Elsa Aba.
Concerned by his absence, family members and fellow fishermen, including Aba’s husband, Salic, launched a search.
Sisando’s boat was later found badly damaged, leading residents to speculate that it may have collided with a passing vessel.
Large ships are occasionally seen in the waters near Barangay Acmac.
Despite search efforts extending into the waters of Misamis Oriental, there has been no sign of Sisando as of press time.
Fishermen and local officials plan to expand the search to nearby Misamis Occidental in hopes of locating him.
