I learned that the Road and Traffic Administration (RTA) has a new overseer, not merely a consultant, in the person of Councilor Enrico Salcedo.
To me, this means Mayor Klarex Uy has finally started to seriously look into the fact that the RTA has always been ineffective in managing the city’s traffic.
All Councilor Salcedo has to remember is that he is the overseer, not merely one of the ineffective consultants of that office.
Knowing him — by the way he takes action in the committees he holds and has held in the City Council — maybe the public can already look forward to the improvement of the city’s traffic.
Why it took the mayor to take action may no longer be an issue as long as the new setup in the RTA results in the improvement of traffic, not merely translated into more meetings of the consultants without concrete results implemented on the road.
As stated by Councilor Salcedo in a radio interview, the ineptness of the RTA head and its useless consultants seems to be the problem why until now, after so many years, traffic is still a problem in the city.
It’s amusing to hear Councilor Salcedo say that the RTA head mentioned there are defective traffic lights even as they did not yet examine the units.
This is a clear example of poor — very poor — management on the part of the RTA head and the ineffective consultants.
