GINGOOG City ― A consumer member of the Misamis Oriental II Rural Electric Service Cooperative (Moresco II) has called the attention of the Energy Regulatory Commission, the National Electrification Administration, and the Department of Energy to investigate the electric cooperative based in Medina town in the eastern part of this province.
In an interview, Retired P/Col. Gregie Pimentel called up the attention of the said government agencies to conduct an investigation against the electric cooperative for its inaction on the implementation of the net metering system in the locality as mandated under Republic Act 9513 or the Energy Renewable Act of 2008.
Pimentel said years ago he asked the management of Moresco II about the requirements for the application of the Net Metering but until now his request has been ignored by the electric cooperative.
In Gingoog, there are a number of homeowners and business establishments that are already using solar power, Pimentel said.
Pimentel cited the advantages once the net metering system will be installed.
He said the excess supply from your solar power will belong to the Moresco II.
“For example, your solar supply is 50 kilowatts from your solar panel and you only consumed 10 kW in a single day, your excess supply is 40 kW,” Pimentel said.
And that excess automatically goes to Moresco II or the distributor utility, Pimentel he added.
The Cagayan Electric Power And Light Company (Cepalco) in Cagayan de Oro City and Moresco I in the 2nd District of the province and in other places in the country have already been implementing the Net Metering system, Pimentel pointed out.
Pimentel said the net metering system is a big help to all member-consumers, especially in times when massive increases in power rate including the recent questionable new rate of P17.2683 per kilowatt hour imposed by the electric cooperative.
“Pinaagi sa net metering, zero balance ka sa imong balayrunon or maka menus ka sa binulan nga obligasyon o depende sa supply sa imong solar panel,” said Pimentel.
Pimentel also questioned why he was not allowed to speak during the 41st annual assembly of the electric cooperative conducted via Zoom meeting and at the walk-in held at Arturo Lugod Gym last Saturday.
Pimentel said according to the activity secretariat the interaction was allowed only in the virtual or in zoom.
He said he will also send his official complaint to the relevant government agencies against the electric cooperative for delisting him as a member of the cooperative arbitrarily.
Pimentel also called on the agencies to investigate the alleged oversupply contract by Moresco II management and the power supplier in Misamis Oriental and the “questionable” purchase of five generators.
