By NITZ ARANCON Correspondent FORMER Taglimao barangay chairman William Guialani announced he would run for a city council seat despite a sexual abuseelated complaint so he could take back the Carmen market lease contract city hall took from the New Wishing Star Trading Corp.. Guialani’s announce-ment came even as he is facing a lasciviousness case. The 65-year old former village chief has been accused of acts of lasciviousness before the city prosecutor’s office by a 16-year old teenager. The complainant, who hails from Barangay Lingating in Baungon town in Bukidnon, used to work for an eatery near Liceo de Cagayan University that Guialani once owned. Guialani strongly denied the accusation, saying he suspected that the teenager’s complaint had something to do with his political plans. The former barangay chairman has dropped bombshells against the Emano administration in connection with the controversial Carmen market lease contract, and later, filed a string of graft complaints against the Moreno administration before the ombudsman. “Dili man kana tino-od,” said Gualani of the complaint against him for acts of lasciviousness. Guialani however admitted that the complainant used to work for him, and that she supposedly has an ax to grind against him. He said the complainant lost her job when he sold his eatery. He challenged his accuser to show proof that he made sexual advances on her, and accused her of only trying to make him shell out money. “Ang iyang tuyo ana, iya lang kong panguwartahon. Kon dili kana niya mapamatud-an, ako siyang ibali ug sumbong. Na-a bay iyang ebedensiya?” Guialani asked. In a two-page affidavit, the teenager alleged that Guialani took advantage of her in the evening of April 19. She said she went to a house in Barangay Patag with Guialani to get a supply of fish. Inside the house, the teenager said the former barangay chairman dragged her into a room where he allegedly started kissing her, and fondling her privates. “Kusgan kaayo siya,” said the teenager in tears. The teenager added: “Naningkamot ko nga makabuhi gikan niya. Paggawas nako sa iyang kuwarto, midagan ko. Hapit pa gani ko mahulog. Misakay dayon ko ug jeep balik sa eatery.” The alleged victim then sought the help of the Carmen police which assisted her in filing the complaint against Guialani before the prosecutor’s office in April 23. He said he suspected the complaint reeked of politics, and that it would not stop him from seeking a city council seat. “Modagan gyud ko sa 2016, bahala nag independent.” Guialani said his decision to run for councilor was influenced by his desire to take back the contract for the lease of the upper level of Carmen market that awarded by the Emano administration to Unitop. The contract, which Guialani claimed was first awarded by city hall to New Wishing Star after he and the firm’s owner allegedly bribed city hall officials, was voided by the Emano administration. The then mayor Vicente Emano then awarded a new contract to Unitop. Despite Guialani’s pleas, Mayor Oscar Moreno did not void the Unitop contract in favor of New Wishing Star.
