AS PART of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation’s (PAGCOR) Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and its partnership with city local official, Councilor George Goking a timely aid (essential goods) reached to over a hundred of families in Barangay Carmen early this week.
Goking and Pagcor distributed food packs to mostly indigent families, including trisikad drivers and senior citizens in the area.
The food packs according to Goking, contained rice, instant noodles and assorted canned goods, among others.
“Over hundred families are benefitted, as they are very grateful on our thanksgiving and on PAGCOR’s outreach mission,” said Goking.
Goking said the aid is to augment their basic needs due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the spiraling cost of basic commodities.
He added the recipients, the senior citizens and the tricycle drivers are among mostly affected by the pandemic since last year.
“Due to the high prices of basic commodities, the aids will help them to cope with their families need,” said Goking chair on the committee on Trade & Commerce.
The trike drivers badly needs support as they make their living by toiling under the harsh elements of nature just to feed their families and send their children to school, according to Goking.
He added their spouses also need livelihood assistance to make both ends for their families.
“We also distributed food packs to indigent families who are in dire situation and at the same way of thanking them for their support in the election,” said Goking.
“In this difficult times we need to open our hearts and minds, unite and help everybody the best way we can,” he said. (Ben Balce)
