CAGAYAN de Oro City, under the leadership of Mayor Rolando Uy, has emerged as a shining example of success in the recently released 2023 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI).
"The city has achieved remarkable rankings across various categories, solidifying its position as a highly competitive urban center," said Mayor's Office Chief of Staff Shiela Lumbatan.
In the Resiliency category, Cagayan de Oro City claimed an impressive 2nd place, demonstrating its ability to withstand and recover from challenges and calamities.
"This achievement reflects the city's commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents even in the face of adversity," said Lumbatan.
Furthermore, Lumbatan said the city secured the 5th spot in the Innovation category, recognizing its efforts in promoting technological advancements, entrepreneurship, and creative solutions to meet the evolving needs of its population.
This acknowledgment highlights Cagayan de Oro City's commitment to fostering an environment conducive to innovation and economic growth, according to Lumbatan.
The Government Efficiency category proved to be another area of excellence for Cagayan de Oro City, as it secured the 7th position.
This recognition signifies the city's commitment to providing efficient and effective public services, ensuring the smooth operation of government processes, and enhancing the overall quality of life for its citizens.
Notably, Cagayan de Oro City was hailed as the Most Improved city in the CMCI, further highlighting its dedication to continual progress and development.
"Through strategic initiatives and proactive measures, the city has managed to enhance its competitive edge and make substantial advancements in various aspects," Lumbatan said.
Cagayan de Oro City's commitment to infrastructure development has also been recognized, with the city securing the 8th spot in the Infrastructure category.
This achievement reflects the city's investment in enhancing its physical and digital infrastructure, improving connectivity, and promoting sustainable urban development.
These outstanding accomplishments have collectively propelled Cagayan de Oro City to the 7th overall position among 33 highly urbanized cities in the Philippines.
The city's success places it in the company of esteemed urban centers such as Valenzuela, Pasig, and Makati, further solidifying its reputation as a thriving and competitive city.
