CHIEF of Staff of the City Mayor's Office, Shiela Lumbatan, announced today that Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy is overjoyed and deeply grateful for the support of the 20th City Council in establishing the Cagayan de Oro City College in Barangay Dansolihon.
"Mayor Klarex is extremely thankful to the city council for responding to his request for funding to initiate this project," stated Lumbatan.
During the "Inyong Alagad, Mayor Klarex Uy" program on Friday, September 15, Mayor Uy revealed that construction on the college's Administrative Building will commence this year.
"This will follow the completion of the requirements, under the guidance of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED)," said Lumbatan adding that as well as the opening of the road leading to the future campus by the City Engineering Office.
Lumbatan further mentioned that Mayor Klarex expressed his gratitude to Dr. Jestoni Babia, the interim president of Cagayan de Oro City College, for embracing the challenge of nurturing the college's vision.
"This vision aims to provide educational opportunities for those aspiring to graduate from college but facing financial constraints," said Lumbatan.
She also highlighted the generous contribution of the Indigenous People (IP) of Barangay Dansolihon.
Lumbatan said the IP community donated more than 60 hectares of land for the establishment of the city college, without any charge or obligation.
"Mayor Klarex also extended his appreciation to the IPs for their invaluable assistance in turning the city's dream of a college for underprivileged individuals into a reality," Lumbatan stated.
