NIGHT market vendors are continuously reminded about proper waste management practices as part of the policies and regulations implemented by Mayor Rolando 'Klarex' Uy's administration through the Night Market Management Committee.
These were the statements made by the city mayor's office chief of staff Shiela Lumbatan on Tuesday.
"The vendors, who sell their products at Cogon Market, are required to adhere to the proper disposal of their waste," said Lumbatan.
She said every day, since the sidewalk vendors set up their temporary stalls, they are reminded about the correct way to dispose of their trash.
"This reminder ensures that the garbage collectors can easily collect the waste without any difficulties," said Lumbatan.
The Night Market Team recently conducted an information education campaign (IEC) regarding waste management, which was attended by the night market vendors located along Osmeña Street in Area 1.
The campaign aimed to reiterate their obligation, especially to those vendors who have not been properly disposing of their waste, according to Lumbatan.
The activity was led by Enrico Salcedo, co-chairman of the Night Market Management Committee, along with Mary Sean Molig, the General Manager of CEEBDA, and a representative from Clenro.
The team appealed to the vendors to assist the city in maintaining proper waste management practices.
The vendors were urged to play their part in ensuring the proper disposal of waste.
"This initiative underscores the city's commitment to promoting cleanliness and environmental sustainability in the night market area," said Lumbatan.
