THE City Government of Cagayan de Oro, led by Mayor Rolando 'Klarex' Uy, extended a warm welcome to the players and coaching staff of Cignal HD Spikers and Chery Tiggo Crossovers.
Both teams arrived at the City Tourism Hall on Friday, August 18, in anticipation of their upcoming match in the Premier Volleyball League On Tour.
The event according to City Mayor's Office Shiela Lumbatan is an integral part of the Higalaay Festival 2023, showcasing the city's passion for volleyball.
City Councilors John Michael Seno and Atty. Joey Abbu, along with City Administrator Atty. Hilario Raagas and City Tourism Officer Rico Libre, were present to greet the teams.

The clash between Cignal HD Spikers and Chery Tiggo Crossovers promises to be an intense battle.

Lumbatan said with their arrival in Cagayan de Oro, fans eagerly anticipate witnessing an exciting display of volleyball prowess at the Cagayan de Oro International Convention Center in Taguanao, Barangay Indahag, on Saturday, August 19 at 6pm.
"Not only does this event provide an opportunity for sports enthusiasts to witness top-level volleyball, but it also serves as a platform to promote tourism and cultural exchange," said Lumbatan.
She added that the Higalaay Festival offers visitors a chance to experience Cagayan de Oro's rich heritage, delectable cuisine, and warm hospitality.
As tourism gains traction, such sporting events reinforce the city's commitment to becoming a premier destination for both sports and tourism she said.
"By hosting the Premier Volleyball League On Tour, the City Government of Cagayan de Oro continues to showcase its dedication to sports development and promotion," she said.
