CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Rolando 'Klarex' Uy late last week addressed and refuted claims made by critics regarding a supposed 'mass resignation' at the city-owned JR Borja General Hospital (JRBGH).
The mayor even made this statement during a press briefing at his office on Monday, aiming to clarify the situation and provide accurate information to the public.
According to Sheila Lumbatan, the chief of staff at the mayor's office, Mayor Klarex explained that the resignations of five doctors from JRBGH were not indicative of a mass exodus, as alleged by critics.
Instead, the mayor clarified that these doctors had completed their training at the city-owned hospital and had chosen to pursue opportunities at another government hospital.
Mayor Klarex emphasized that the departure of these doctors has created openings for other medical professionals who have applied to work at JRBGH, according to Lumbatan.
She added, "He (Uy) highlighted that the turnover of staff is a normal part of the hospital's operations and is not uncommon within the healthcare sector."
Lumbatan reiterated the mayor's explanation, emphasizing that the staffing changes at JRBGH were not linked to any significant issues within the hospital.
Lumbatan aimed to assure the public that the situation was being handled in a routine and orderly manner.
"Mayor Klarex's statement was intended to address concerns raised by critics and to provide transparency regarding the circumstances surrounding the doctors' resignations," said Lumbatan.
"The mayor sought to dispel any misconceptions and offer clarity about the staffing changes at JRBGH, ensuring that the public is informed about the situation," she said.
She stressed that the mayor's office has expressed its commitment to ensuring the continued provision of quality healthcare services at JR Borja General Hospital.
"Mayor Klarex encouraged the public to trust in the hospital's ability to manage its staffing and operations effectively," Lumbatan explained.
