CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy demonstrated strong support for 400 scholar-leaders who participated in the BUGSAY 2.0 City Scholar Leaders Congress.
The event took place on August 16 at the City Tourism Hall in the city.
Mayor Uy highlighted that the term "BUGSAY" was chosen because it symbolizes unity.
He explained its significance, noting that just as a boat requires a paddle (bugsay) to move forward, unity is needed in any endeavor.
"In a boat, a paddle is very important. It represents unity... strong rowing for a quick and easy arrival at our destination," said Uy.
If one person rows in one direction and the others row in another, we will not reach our destination, according to Uy.
The event was organized by the City Scholarships Office (CSO), led by Ms. Richel Petalcurin-Dahay.
Other notable attendees included City Mayor's Office consultant Jordan Apat and City Councilor Suzette Magtajas-Daba, the chairperson of the Committee on Education.
The BUGSAY 2.0 City Scholar Leaders Congress is an annual gathering of scholar-leaders from partner schools and community-based organizations.
