CAGAYAN de Oro City — Coro Davao de Oro brought home ₱180,000 and a national third runner-up finish after placing among the country’s top government choirs at the Himig Lingkod Bayani 2026 competition in Manila.
The group also won the Best Cluster Entry for Mindanao during the national finals on Sept. 17 at The Metropolitan Theater.
The Civil Service Commission organized the competition as part of the 126th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary celebration.
Coro Davao de Oro represented Mindanao against seven other regional finalists from across the country.
The group received ₱150,000 for its overall placement and an additional ₱30,000 for the Mindanao cluster award.
The Dasmariñas City Teachers’ Chorale from Luzon won the national championship and also received awards for Best Cluster Entry for Luzon, Best Interpretation, Best Arrangement and Best Conductor.
Coro de Rentas Internas of the National Capital Region finished first runner-up with ₱250,000, while the DepEd Bohol Chorale placed second runner-up with ₱200,000.
Davao de Oro provincial officials, led by Gov. Raul Mabanglo, Rep. Maricar Zamora-Mabanglo and Rep. Jhong Ceniza, joined several department heads in supporting the delegation in Manila.
