IN a significant development for the water supply in Lumbia, the eagerly anticipated commissioning of COWD's Production Well No. 33 took place on August 25, 2023.
This new well, located in Lower Palalan, Lumbia, is expected to greatly improve water availability in the area.
Cowd general manager Engr. Antonio Young said the newly commissioned well operates at a pressure of 100–130 psi and has a flow rate of 81 cubic meters per hour (357 gallons per minute).
"It will work in conjunction with the bulk water supply from COBI to ensure a steady and reliable water supply for the residents of Lumbia," said Young.
Following the commissioning, Young said a dedicated 24-hour monitoring team was assigned to fine-tune and make necessary adjustments to the well's operation.
He said that this one-month monitoring period aimed to optimize the performance of the well and ensure it operates at its peak efficiency.
The impact of the new COWD facility on the water supply in critical areas of Barangay Lumbia, such as Dulawon, Ecoville, and Upper Palalan, has been significant, according to Young.
Young even said residents in these areas have reported a marked improvement in their water supply since the well became operational.
One resident from Lumbia Ecoville expressed their satisfaction, saying, "Our water situation has greatly improved. We now have clear and clean water coming out of our taps 24/7."
The positive testimonial highlights the positive impact that COWD's new production well has had on the lives of the residents in the area.
Young also added that the successful commissioning of COWD's Production Well No. 33 in Lumbia marks a significant milestone in enhancing the water supply infrastructure in the region.
The increased water availability and improved service to critical areas demonstrate COWD's commitment to ensuring a reliable and sustainable water supply for the communities it serves, he said.
