CAGAYAN de Oro City Hall is set to establish its child minding facility, according to Shiela Lumbatan, the Chief of Staff at the Mayor's Office.
According to Lumbatan, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), the City Hall Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative Inc. (CHEMCO), and the City Gender and Development (GAD) office, where Lumbatan serves as the head, are collaborating on this initiative.
During the weekly flag-raising program hosted by the City Agricultural Productivity Operations Office (CAPOO) on Monday morning, City administrator Hilario Toy Raagas emphasized that the establishment of a childminding facility is a prerequisite for Cagayan de Oro City to attain the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).
Raagas said this seal certifies the city's compliance and commitment to the best governance practices, thereby enabling it to access funding from government finance institutions.
"The child minding facility aims to address the needs of working parents employed at City Hall," said Lumbatan.
She said it will provide a safe and nurturing environment for their children, ensuring their well-being while they are at work.
"This initiative reflects the city's dedication to promoting work-life balance and supporting its employees in balancing their professional and family responsibilities," said Lumbatan.
The CSWDO, CHEMCO and GAD will collaborate closely to establish the facility, ensuring that all necessary resources and services are in place to cater to the children's needs.
The facility will be equipped with appropriate play areas, educational materials, and trained staff to ensure the children's safety, development, and overall welfare.
Lumbatan added that the introduction of this child-minding facility demonstrates the city's commitment to creating a family-friendly work environment and promoting the welfare of its employees.
"It also showcases Cagayan de Oro City's efforts to meet the criteria for the Seal of Good Local Governance," said Lumbatan adding that a testament to its dedication to good governance practices and commitment to the well-being of its residents.
