CITY Hall communicators in Cagayan de Oro City were called upon to bridge the gap between the local government administration and the public, according to the Office of the City Mayor's Chief of Staff, Sheila Lumbatan.
Over 70 representatives from various departments at City Hall attended a one-day orientation on government communication hosted by the City Information Office.
The event aimed to enhance working relations between the City Information Office and its respective departments, Lumbatan said, adding to ensure a unified and consistent voice when communicating the programs and policies of Mayor Rolando 'Klarex' Uy's administration to the public.
City Administrator lawyer Roy Hilario Raagas and CMO Consultant Jordan Apat also attended the orientation which took place at the SM CDO Downtown Premier Mega Screen.
Lumbatan emphasized the crucial role of these communicators, highlighting the need for accuracy, transparency, and reliability in disseminating information that is easily understood by the public.
In today's ever-changing digital landscape, she stressed the importance of being proactive and innovative in meeting communication challenges.
During the event, Raagas emphasized that the department communicators are the vital link between the city government and the public they serve.
He encouraged them to passionately and clearly articulate City Hall's priority programs and policies under Mayor Klarex's RISE agenda.
He regarded their dedication to delivering accurate, timely, and compelling information as a catalyst for positive change in the community.
Lumbatan, on her part, urged the participants to effectively communicate the Klarex administration's programs and policies to the public.
The workshops conducted during the program were led by Dr. Maria Theresa Rivera from Far Eastern University, anchoring the participants in practical and relevant insights into government communication.
"Overall, this orientation aimed to ensure effective communication between the local government and its constituents," said Lumbatan.
She added that by establishing a unified voice and emphasizing the values of accuracy, transparency, and innovation, City Hall communicators will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between the administration's initiatives and the public's understanding of them.
The training provided during the orientation, according to Lumbatan will equip the communicators with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively relay information and contribute to the positive development of the community.
