CAGAYAN de Oro City's commitment to prioritizing the welfare and development of children took a significant step forward as the draft of the City Development and Investment Plan for Children (CDIPC) for the years 2025-2028 was presented.
The presentation took place during the quarterly meeting of the City Council for the Protection of Children (CCPC) on Thursday, September 21, at Dynasty Hotel in the city.
The gathering was attended by representatives from the Cagayan de Oro City local government unit (LGU-CDO), national government agencies, and non-government organizations.
Among the attendees were City Councilor Imee Moreno, chairperson of the Committee on Women and Family Relations, Vice Chairperson Jonah A. Domingo of the City Council for the Protection of Children, Director of the Department of Interior and Local Governance (DILG) - Cagayan de Oro, Engr. Jane J. Docallos, and other officials.
One of the key topics discussed during the meeting was the presentation of the guidelines and schedule for the Search for Child-Friendly Barangay.
This initiative aims to recognize and promote barangays (local communities) that create a nurturing and safe environment for children.
The guidelines and activities for the upcoming Children's Month Celebration in November were also presented.
The CDIPC serves as a strategic roadmap for the city's efforts in ensuring the well-being and holistic development of children.
It outlines various programs, policies, and projects that will be implemented to address the specific needs and concerns of children in Cagayan de Oro City.
The plan covers a four-year period, providing a long-term vision and direction for child-focused development in the city.
Chief of Staff Sheila Lumbatan expressed her gratitude to all the stakeholders who actively participated in the formulation of the CDIPC.
She emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in creating a child-friendly city that fosters the full potential of its young population.
Lumbatan also highlighted the city government's commitment to allocating resources and implementing innovative programs that will benefit children and contribute to their overall well-being.
"The presentation of the draft CDIPC marks a significant milestone in Cagayan de Oro City's journey towards becoming a model city for child development," said Lumbatan.
With strong partnerships between the government, NGOs, and various sectors of society, the city is poised to create an environment where children can thrive, grow, and reach their dreams, she said.
The CDIPC will now undergo further review and refinement before its finalization and subsequent implementation, bringing the city closer to its vision of a brighter future for its children.
