CAMIGUIN - Recording three new coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 cases among personnel of the Camiguin General Hospital, the provincial government here steps up efforts to boost the COVID-19 vaccination.
"After the conduct of routine RT-PCR testing on all Camiguin General Hospital personnel, three employees tested positive for COVID-19.
All three are fully vaccinated and boosted and are experiencing only very mild symptoms.
They are now undergoing quarantine in accordance with Department of Health protocols," Gov. Xavier Jesus Romualdo said in a public announcement, July 27.
Thus, the governor reminds the public that COVID-19 is still present in the province.
He also stressed that the high vaccination rate has greatly protected the locals for the last couple of months.
"However, the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants and sub variants that are more transmissible and can evade the immunity offered by the primary COVID-19 vaccination doses means that we have to step up our own protection against the virus.
We do this by getting booster shots," Romualdo added.
He also urged those who already had their first booster and, are already eligible, to get their second booster emphasizing that getting the booster shots is even more crucial in light of the coming resumption of full face-to-face classes in schools.
To further protect the locals in the province, the provincial government also joins the 'PinasLakas,' a stronger nationwide booster vaccination campaign led by DOH to help maintain the country's wall of immunity. (RTP/PIA-10/Camiguin)
