A taxi driver was rushed to the barangay clinic after sustaining a gunshot wound from a stray bullet supposedly intended for a toughie in Barangay Bugo, this city on Wednesday at 8:10 pm.
Police identified the victim as Omar delas Alas, 48, a resident of Zone 5, Bugo.
A police investigation revealed that the incident happened when motorcycle-riding gunmen tried to shoot a certain Christian Tacastacas aka “Tantan,” a resident of Zone 2, Bugo.
But the suspects missed their target. Instead, the bullet hit delas Alas, who, during that time, was sitting inside the taxi cab he was driving.
Witnesses in the area immediately brought the victim to the Bugo barangay clinic for treatment.
Tacastacas is said to be a police character in the area.
Cagayan de Oro City Police Office Director Henry Dampal said he is soliciting the cooperation of the public especially those who were able to witnessed the incident to come out into the open so that the recent incident will be given an outright solution and justice.
