THE office of the city mayor's chief of staff, Shiela Lumbatan, yesterday disclosed that thirty-one local government units (LGUs) of Cagayan de Oro (CDO) participated in "Trivia Dash: The Ultimate Quiz Bee Challenge".
The event was organized by the Human Resource Management Department, led by HRMD Department Manager Xsyclyn Faith Lumbatan, as part of the 123rd Philippine Civil Service Anniversary celebrations.
The event took place on the morning of September 8th, at the City Hall quadrangle.
"The fun-filled activity served as a 'brain exercise', exclusively for city hall employees," said Lumbatan.
She said the competition revolved around multiple choice questions, covering diverse areas such as the Philippine Constitution and Laws, Pop Culture and Entertainment, Science and Technology, Current Events, and more.
Vonn Francis Cantila from the Cagayan de Oro Technical Vocational Institute (CDO TVI) emerged as the champion of the event, according to Lumbatan.
He was rewarded with a trophy and a cash prize for his exceptional performance. Cantila, a former city scholar and scholar leader, is a cum laude graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English from Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan in 2022.
The theme of this year's Philippine Civil Service Anniversary is "Transforming Public Service in the Next Decade: Honing Agile and Future-Ready Servant-Heroes."
In related news, Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy expressed his gratitude to the press in Cagayan de Oro for the successful coverage of the Higalaay Festival 2023.
Mayor Klarex personally thanked the press during an interview at the groundbreaking ceremony of additional classrooms at West City Central School.
Mayor Klarex acknowledged the significant contribution of the press to the peaceful and successful celebration by consistently disseminating information to the public, Lumbatan stressed.
"The mayor recognized and supported the role of the free press in delivering important news and information to the community," said Lumbatan.
