BUTUAN City--A 36-year old housewife allegedly hanged herself after a petty quarrel with her husband in Barangay Libertad, this city, on Sunday morning. Butuan Police Station 3 commander Senior Insp. Sandy Dacera identified the alleged suicide as Loida Paculba of Purok 9, Barangay Libertad. Initial investigation showed Paculba had a disagreement with her husband, Arturo Paculba, 40, over the use of their tricycle. Arturo, it was learned, wanted to lend the tricycle to his brother but his wife disagreed, citing the relatively high cost of maintenance. But Arturo prevailed--he and his brother sped off to Purok 4 despite his wife’s protest. Arturo told investigators that there was an unusual silence in the house when he returned. He said he found his wife dead with a rope around her neck and tied to a tree. Police said they were still investigating the case. (ben serrano)
