VALENCIA City government is now accepting donations for more than 2,000 residents affected by Typhoon Marisol, which caused widespread flooding in five barangays.

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page today, September 19, the local government unit announced it is seeking essential goods, including food, bottled water, clothes, blankets, hygiene kits, medicines, and first aid supplies.

According to a report from Jun Valero, head of the Valencia City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO), a total of 2,075 individuals were affected, with 349 people still in temporary shelters at the City Gymnasium.

The CDRRMO confirmed four deaths and reported that four other people remain missing.

One of the confirmed fatalities was Dr. Larry Labay, the principal of Sugod Integrated School.

According to reports, Labay drowned after attempting to save his vehicle from the rising floodwaters. He reportedly managed to escape his vehicle but was swept away by the raging water.

Donations can be dropped off at the City Sports and Development Office, located in front of the City Gymnasium.
