TYPHOON Mirasol killed three people and left four missing after it struck the city yesterday night, September 17, causing widespread flooding.

The Valencia City local government confirmed the deaths and missing persons this morning, September 18.

In a statement, the local government said several houses were destroyed and 389 residents are currently in evacuation centers. The affected villages are Poblacion, Barobo, Lumbo, Bagontaas, and Sugod, all of which have suspended classes at all levels.

Valencia City Mayor Amie Galario conducted a Rapid Damaged and Needs Assessment (RDNA) on the affected families Thursday morning.

Nirla Jade Bisnar, a resident of Poblacion, Valencia, uploaded a video showing floodwaters reaching human height and some of her neighbors’ houses being swept away.

“Pasalamat na lang ‘mi nga naa pa gyapon among balay, naa pa mi makatulgan,” Bisnar said.
